INTRODUCTION
At the start of the academic year we were given a project to create a one minute long trailer, a poster and a magazine cover. Now that all 3 products have reached their final stage and are completed I am going to be conducting some audience research, this research is to determine if our products are what the audience initially
wanted from the audience research conducted in pre-production but also if they are attracted to these final products. I began my audience research by creating 8-10 question questionnaires for each of our final products, I created these on 'QuickSurveys.com' which makes it easier to distribute and gather data.
Our target audience for this trailer are for those between the ages of 15-25, I know as a teenager between these ages myself that the best way to reach my target audience is through social media. Using the link from the quick survey website which takes you directly to the short questionnaire. I distributed it on social networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram, Whats App etc. In addition to distributing our work on social networking sites I plan on conducting private screenings and recording feedback.

Trailer Feedback
Above is the finished trailer shown to my audience when gaining audience research, in order to gain feedback on my questionnaire I created a 10 question questionnaire which I kept the same throughout.
10 Questions:
1. After viewing this trailer would you go see the film?
2. Do you find that too much of the storyline is given away in the trailer?
3. Do you think that the sound on this trailer matches the pace of the visuals?
4. Do you think the antagonist (villain) is shown too much in the trailer?
5. Did this trailer succeed in building fear and tension?
6. Do you find that the camera shots are fitting for this kind of trailer?
7. Do you understand what kind of sub-genre this trailer fits in to? (Zombie, Supernatural, Slasher etc.)
8. Is the acting displayed in this trailer convincing?
9. Is the trailer consistent throughout?
10.If you could change anything about this trailer what would it be?
Screening:
A method used to gain feedback on the trailer was through a private screening. Posters were designed and distributed throughout the college with tickets being given out for free to those interested, both the poster and the tickets were designed by Lale (BrainShakesProductions). The 10 questions were printed off and given to those who attended the screening to be filled out.
The poster and tickets which were distributed are imaged below.

Social Media:
Using the link from 'QuickSurveys.com' which took anyone who clicked on it directly to the survey, no matter what platform they are using with ease. I used quicksurveys as its mobile compatible and most of my target audience will be using social media on their portable devices, this made is easier to distribute as I know more people would be able to complete it.
Below I have the link which I sent out and the variety of social media it was distributed on imaged below. (click to enlarge)

On the quick survey's website I can view the feedback gained in graphs/charts, below I have these graphs with data from those who filled out the quick survey's only.
Youtube:
Through uploading the trailer on youtube we were able to monitor the amount of views the video had as well as what countries it was being viewed in. Those who viewed it on youtube were also able to place comments, although the questionnaire wasn't put on youtube the comments can still be used as feedback on our product.
Youtube provided a service where we were able to not just see how many views are trailer had received but also where these views were coming from. We had views from Canada, Germany, Sweden, The United States and Jamaica as well as views from the United Kingdom, we were able to see if our viewers watched the trailer throughout which can determine if it caught their interest.
The statistics taken from youtube and feedback is imaged below. (click to enlarge)

Above I have all the data which was collected on a range of platforms into single graphs, for this feedback I collectively had a total of 16 participants.
Question one had a total of 15 people wanting to see the movie after viewing the trailer with only one person saying they wouldn't, this is a success as we ultimately want our target audience to be interested in trailer enough to follow it up and watch the film which they wanted to do. As we continue to question two its clear the audience feel that just enough of the storyline is given and it doesn't spoil the potential film to come, this continues to draw them in as they would want to see more after what they had seen. The audience also found that with a 14 to 2 vote that the villain was shown just the right amount (Question four) which is another factor which will draw them in this also means we haven't desensitised our audience before they have even seen the film.
Looking at question three, five and six it is clear that the sound matched the pace of the trailer well which resulted in a successful build up of tension, the camera shots chosen also worked well with the build up of tension and the audience has recognised this along with consistency
In over all conclusion regarding the trailer I believe it was successful and caught the audience's attention, it was enticing and a majority of my audience wanted to see the film and were pleased with its contents.

POSTER FEEDBACK
The image above is the finished poster which was shown to the audience during audience research, in order to gain feedback on this image I created a 10 question questionnaire which I kept the same throughout.
10 Questions:
1. After viewing this poster would you go see the film?
2. Is the image used for the poster scary / effective?
3. Does this poster portray professional elements such as that in the example below?
4. Do you think there is continuity from trailer to poster regarding fonts?
5. Do you think there is continuity from the trailer to poster regarding imagery?
6. Do you think there is continuity from the trailer to the poster regarding colour scheme?
7. What horror sub genre do you believe the poster is portraying?
8. Do you find that the poster is too right heavy?
9. Does the poster look too photoshopped?
10.If you could change anything about this poster what would it be?
Social Media:
The 10 questions were uploaded onto quick survey's and the link was used, I continued to use quick survey's because of its mobile compatibility and due to the fact most of my target audience will be accessing it via their mobile.

Field Work:
Another method used to gain feedback on the poster was through fieldwork, here I was going to show people images of the poster and ask them the 10 questions on camera.
I sent an email to Greenwich picture house asking if our posters could be displayed, they are well known for showing indie films and would be more likely to allow the posters being put up.
The email sent is imaged below.

Above I have all the data which was collected on a range of platforms into single graphs, for this feedback I collectively had a total of 6 participants.
To begin with I am not to happy with the amount of people who participated in this questionnaire as in comparison to those who completed the amount for the Trailer I had 10 less participants, however I can still come to a conclusion whether our poster delivered.
From questions 1-6 it is with every participant voting that there is continuity from the trailer to the poster regarding fonts, imagery and colour scheme, they also all voted that they would go to see the film after looking at the trailer. They also found that the imagery was effective and scary and it didn't look amateur at all with professional elements. This proves that our poster was successful as an overall vote was in favor throughout.
However I found it worrying that many of the audience mistook the film for a slasher instead of a J-Horror but in overall conclusion I believe it was successful and caught the audience's attention, it was enticing and a majority of my audience wanted to see the film and were pleased with its contents.

3. Do you find there is continuity from the trailer to the magazine cover regarding Imagery?

I believe that a successful product was produced which the audience was interested in but I found that the magazine cover didn't get as many great reviews as our trailer and poster and is a weak spot for us.

CONCLUSION
In conclusion if I could change anything about this research process I would have simply started early giving me time to expand my field in which I sought answers with via my questionnaire, I could have taken to the streets with my field work to get a wider audience view and opinion which I didn't do this time. I would also include asking my audience to share my surveys to gather a wider range of people who could answer them.
However I find that our product was successful a majority of the feedback gained was positive and our audience were accepting of what we have done and found that it didn't need changes and it pleased them, we succeeded in producing a product which pleased our audience.
